“Funeral for a Bee”

There is a mesmerizing video on social media.   Taken in the backyard of the homeowner/filmmaker, it shows a colony of ants dragging flower petals and surrounding a deceased bumblebee with them.

Can you explain this?   I choose to believe that even in the tiniest of brains, dwells empathy and gratitude…….more so than in ours.   I used to tell stories about ants to my children when they were very small, so they wouldn’t be kids who enjoyed stepping on them for fun.   My children probably don’t remember, but, in a way they were my first fairy tales………Stories of fathers out collecting food, on their way home……Deep within, some part of their hearts remember……they have grown to be adults who don’t squash ants or the feelings of others…….

We can all learn something from a little seconds long video.   Something about compassion from a nuisance pest of a being that most give no thought to extinguishing from life.   We all deserve a petal to rest our tired body upon, as our soul takes flight ………….

I always bury little beings with flower petals….the birds, the squirrels, the mice………it has always been my way……..Now, I believe it is the ants’ way as well……..♥P1170987
