I love Halloween, but I fear we have escalated this ancient and hallowed time of year to a disturbing place of violence and perversion.
Two news articles spread across the internet today……..one, a murdered Ohio woman hanging from a fence. Passers by did nothing; they thought she was a Halloween decoration. Next a woman who places a prostrate dummy across her front yard in a crime distressed neighborhood. Passers by think it IS a murder victim, and send the police there countless times each day.
Haunted attractions have grown so violent that we have become desensitized to the heinous element of these scenes. Axe murderers and hockey masked killers are fun costumes.
Halloween was once a time of reverence and respect, and yes, fear of the veil that separates our Realms. But I now fear we have turned this time of year into something very different. Schools are now banning Halloween, towns are now banning trick or treat.
When we lose Halloween……..the true origins of Halloween, we lose part of our ancient stories and beliefs. That is what should be part of October 31st, not how many gruesome death scenes one can place on a lawn………
Just my musings,
