“Asleep in Neverland”

I had some moments of restful sleep last night, too bad it was in front of the TV.  I think Kelli O’Hara’s lullabye to her children worked; I sure was down for the count a few times.  I really wanted to love Peter Pan last night.  I REALLY wanted to love it………

It was good.  It was long……..like reading a drawn out book that you just can’t wait to end.  The book may be good, but it just lingers on forever, like young boys in Neverland.

Christopher Walken as Captain Hook……..Christopher Walken is a trip at anything he portrays.   It was a mix of Kinky Boots meets Blackbeard last night…..There were a few moments when he looked like he was singing, but nothing seemed to be reaching my ears.

The flying scenes were okay……..but the distraction of seeing the young boy’s pajama lift in the air with the wire deterred from the overall moment, I think.

Performing live is not an easy feat….just ask Mariah Carey after Rockefeller Center this week………overall, it was good.   I just wanted it to be magically great, the entire three hours sprinkled with fairy dust…………..

  1. You hit the nail on the head. Three freaking hours. The Mary Martin TV version is 100 minutes, plus commercials. Cathy Rigby did it in 90, and much more athletically and enthusiastically than Williams. NBC gave them too much air time, so they indulged every whim and went overboard.
