“What Matters in the Cosmos”

I watched the Cosmos premiere last night.

It is always mind boggling to try to grasp what has no end to grasp……..infinity.

An endless Universe……a sea of planets……..droplets of stars in an ocean of galaxies ………an endless Universe.

How could anyone believe that life exists only on this miniscule speck of Earth.

But for all the vastness, all the infinities, all the mysteries of space………….one moment in the show was the most extraordinary.

The memories of Neil deGrasse Tyson, a teen age boy with dreams of the Universe and his first meeting with Carl Sagan.   You could see how that meeting influenced Neil as strongly as the twinkling lights that beckoned light years away……….

In this infinite blackness of time and space, on this miniscule speck of dust, all we really have is the care and compassion of man toward one another….. and how that will influence those that follow in their footsteps in this dust.

Peace,

Shirl
