“Joni”

joniEvery one has that special songwriter, the one whose voice entered darkened bedrooms and youthful souls trying to find a place in the world.

For me, the songstress was Joni Mitchell.
I identified with her music, and I still  identify with her life.
She is an artist, a poet, a songstress, a musician……..
When asked who she indentified herself as…..she said not ONE…but a speaker of many languages which must voice themselves in unique ways.
I have been asked to label myself….
Would I like to be acknowledged as a writer, a photographer, an artist, a Reiki Master, or Intuitive?
I cannot answer that one. I don’t really know the answer myself. It is as if those languages that Joni speak of talk inside my head.
When one needs voice, my soul must shapeshift into that receptacle.

There is no one right answer……I cannot label myself, never did, never will.  Except to label myself a Joni Mitchell admirer……always.

Happy 70th birthday Joni……

(pictured is an embroidery piece I sewed during high school)……yes, others were out partying, I was home painting or embroidering, or seeking answers from within.   Some things never change, some things can’t be labeled……….

Namaste,

Shirl
