Last night’s Sleepy Hollow was a let down. I had high hopes for such an imaginative premise…..the White Light and Dark Light of Covens, the mysteries of the Masons, the Bible Apocalyptic Horsemen. The atmosphere of opening night was missing….
Add to that…some expected comedy scenes that hinted of Johnny Depp’s encounter with Karen Carpenter, only this time, a horse riding chimpanzee.
Where was the lightning tinged night and the Horseman’s white hot blade….
My hopes are dwindling to yet another Angel, Buffy, and the Winchester Brothers weekly demon hunt.
And that isn’t bad, but I wished so much more for Irving’s tale.
There is so much evil in the pages of the past….
Times when innocent healers and herbalists were persecuted and killed, times when fear of the unknown and some with gifts concerning it were singled out as demons.
We don’t need Hollywood Monsters coming into childrens’ bedrooms at night; we have enough human evil entering into the days of our history.
I don’t know about you, but I wish to see that history. Interwoven tales of time can be so richly put to the screen, a time when Katrina and Ichabod lived and loved.
Producers of Sleepy Hollow….please don’t be satisfied with Monster of the Week episodes.
There can be so much more.
I haven’t lost hope yet………
