Today is Tad’s 2 year adoptaversary day……….two years ago, we found two little poms sitting in an outdoor cage at a small Pennsylvania rescue.
Both had been through the mill as the saying goes; neither was expected to live.
Tad was much stronger than his brother. If you read my book, you will learn Ozzy’s story.
Tad has a mouth defect; it is crooked with two teeth jutting outward from his lower jaw.
Well, yesterday, one of those teeth jutted completely sideways, like one of those car fender “curb feelers.”
One place you do not investigate is Tad’s mouth. I would have a better chance of exploring OZ than venturing inside there. Not for the biting; I don’t think it physically possible for Tad to bite, his teeth don’t align. He might chomp me very hard……..But Tad puts up such a squirmy struggle, it will take some type of sedation for the doctor to do any dental work.
The tooth is straight again this morning, which means Tad must have slept on his side and pushed it back upward. The vet is off until tomorrow.
Seems like Tad’s adoptaversary present will be a trip to anesthesia land to have his tooth removed, if it doesn’t fall out naturally. I cannot give him any hard treats or food, hoping to loosen it; since Tad does not bite like we normally do.
The vet did not take Tad’s teeth out 2 years ago because they, according to him, were the only things holding Tad’s tongue inside his mouth. If Tad has one removed, I am having the other tooth extracted as well, before this same thing occurs again….Tad is too old for another trip to Sleepland.
I guess Tad will just get a tad more handsome now.
As the song goes……..”The tooth will come out tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow……..they’ll be a tongue”…… 🙂
Well, tomorrow, or later this week……….
Enjoy today Tad, with your stinky, crooked teeth….you and the two of them might be parting ways soon………
