“When the Elephants came to Town”

My small hometown was a place of celebration, back in the 60’s. We had a big fireworks display; we had a traveling circus with elephants that came to town.
I loved the elephants……
That was back in the days of innocence. Back before the knowledge of animal suffering and torment……back when elephants coming to town only brought smiles.
Mosquito bites only brought itchiness….not West Nile.
Charcoaled foods only filled stomachs…..not filled a body with carcinogens.
I feel sorry for kids today…..they have lost innocence…innocence in day to day living and innocence in memories…..
We all know too much, see too much, and believe in not enough……..
I am glad for the memories of those innocent days when elephants came to town…when all I knew was wonder…
Blessings on this holiday weekend……

Namaste,
Shirl
