“Seventeen Years without a Song”

Went shopping in Montclair, New Jersey, yesterday, saw the first signs of cicadas…..but unfortunately, the ones I saw were all dead on the sidewalk.
Except one………..
One was still wiggling, so I gently lifted him up and placed him in the bushes off to the side. Anything that has spent the last 17 years of his life underground, deserves to feel a nice shady leaf under his body before he closes his eyes…….
Don’t know why people hate them so……they don’t bite.
They wish only to pursue what nature intended.
As for too loud, if you didn’t talk for almost two decades, wouldn’t you sing if given the chance…….
They are wondrous beings…….allowed the joys of sunshine and fresh air for so little time……..let them enjoy ……….
Me, I talked to one yesterday and intend to talk to many more if I have the chance…before another seventeen years of silence begins.
