“A Pantless Musketeer”

Today marks the anniversary of what might have been the incentive for the swashbuckling tales of valor from Alexandre Dumas……
Who among us hasn’t been enamored of the escapades of the Three Musketeers…….
Well, it seems the beginning of Alexandre Dumas’ literary fascination with duels and swords began in slightly less chivalrous manner.
He lost his pants in his first duel…….
Yes, on a snowy day in 1825, a 23 year old Dumas not only fell hs opponent….it seems, his pants became the second victim to fall on that day.
The opponent was only slightly wounded…….Dumas’ pride must have been slightly wounded as well…..
Perhaps enough to drive his pen to become his dueling sword……..
If so, I am thankful for a slight clothing malfunction on a snowy patch of land in 1825.

Namaste,
