“Where are the Saints”………….

Today is All Saints’ Day……..I grew up with Saints…..

Saints in my Roman Catholic Church, Saints around our necks, Saints on our keychains, on our bedroom dressers, on our dashboards…….watching, protecting……..

everywhere.

Walking into a church without saints is like leaving the house without shoes on my feet…….incomplete.   Each Saint has a candle station…depending on your prayer needs for the day.  Each Saint was issued a particular protection; I never understood why the Catholic Church chose to toss some aside to make room on the Calendar………

What about all those St. Christopher medals adorning cars and fearful travelers…..didn’t he protect them anymore?………….

I keep seeing pictures from Breezy Point……where a  Hurricane Breeze devastated more than 100 homes and families.  The only things left standing were chimneys, a flag pole, and a St. Mary and St. Anthony statue…………

Some will see them as beacons of faith and strength to live forward……

Some will curse them for not watching over a close knit community of loving people…….

Some will praise them for watching over so no lives were lost on that plot of earth…….

What does your heart feel…………………….

Namaste,

Shirl
