“Wade in the Water”

Yesterday, on the drive to a friend’s home,  I saw an extraordinary sight.  It was a sweltering summer day,  when muggy seems the only appropriate adjective.

We passed a little farm that had a stream running through the property.

In the stream, the cows were wading in the water…..

This city girl had never seen cows wading before……….

But it seems so logical……when it’s hot, go for a little dip in the water.

Animals live lives so uncluttered…….they have a need and they take care of it.

Thoughts of who’s looking, how dirty the water is, will it be too cold, too hot, will my fur get messed up……never enter their minds, or it they do, they take the plunge anyway.…..

They just dive in…..or step in as these bovines did…. and have fun……without a care for the city girl staring at them along her way.

Sometimes, when the heat in life soars too high, we have to trust in taking a plunge.

Maybe the water is too cold…….

Maybe the water is too hot, too muddy…….

Maybe our fur will be ruffled…..and maybe, we will fall flat on our face and get water up our nostrils and in mouths……But we must not care who’s staring at us along the way.

Our fur will dry and we will stand up again….taking care of OUR needs in life and not worrying what others around might comment.

And, you know what……we will be cool.
