“My Favorite Love Story”

If you have read many of my literary blogs, you perhaps have come to this conclusion…..that the most poignant of writers mask a troubled, concealed, or saddened heart…..

This, I believe, is true.  Out of the depths of a darkened heart, can spring forth the most brilliant of light….

Today, for Valentine’s Day, I bring forth such light….

My favorite “love story”….hard to say from my favorite writer, because I love so many diverse kinds of writing….but a writer that always comes to the top of my list when thoughts of favorites surface…..

The story is from the heart of Oscar Wilde…..a troubled, concealed heart …..

But it is a story of pure love and light that overtakes the darkness….

I read this to my children aloud when they were little; as many times as I read it, I could never finish without struggling to hold back a heart of tears……

You may cry; but your heart will fill with light…..

So, for Valentine’s Day, for Oscar Wilde, and to lighten the world of my blog readers just a little…….here it is…..

Perhaps afterward, you will learn why I love crumbling statues and birds so much; for inside each contains a heart…….

I have included a link to “The Happy Prince”……….the story is about 17 short pages; somehow, I think you may be tempted to read through the others that follow on the online book link……

Happy Valentine’s Day……..
