“Just a Little Bug”

I spent a sleepless, sniffling night last night…….due to just a little bug……

I saw a provocative TV show about bacteria.  Noted scientists say our bodies tenfold harbor good and bad bacteria relative to the number of our cells.  Even more surprising, they said emigrants to other countries become at greater risk for certain illnesses because their bodies have not become acclimated to certain indigenous bacteria in each region……

Not just the usual illness, like stomach virus, which you would imagine, but serious illness..  all because they have traveled to a new location where “different” bacteria thrive in native inhabitants.

For all our advancements……..we know so little of these minute wonders……how they can shapeshift and adapt and mutate and defend their territory, for both the good and bad of their hosts…….

Antibiotics have to be up there among the greatest gifts to mankind, but overuse has set the stage for a new drama of super bugs to shine……..

For all our advancements, sometimes I wonder how much more equipped we are than the cloth covered mouths of workers throwing plague victims into the pits………

For me, it’s chicken soup and rest until my little bug visitors decide to travel on………

Namaste and Wellness……..
