“Snow”

It is snowing here…….I love newly fallen snow……..so pristine.

Marred only by the tiny criss crosses of bird feet or squirrel paws…….and maybe, sometimes, the mark of deer hooves under my farmhouse window…….

Alas……pristine doesn’t last long…….in snow and in life……..

Time leaves its marks of blackened dirt and slush and yellowed signatures from furry wanderers………

Same as life…….tainted by the blackened, yellowed disappointments and hurts along the wanderings……

I love the freshly fallen snow on the battlefields of Gettysburg……maybe it adds another pristine layer to obliterate all the horror once trod upon these grounds…..

But…….the same way pristine snow doesn’t last long…….the blackened slush will melt away again……and the circle of life will begin again…….and new layers…..pristine, and blackened, must come to pass.

Namaste,

Shirl
