“Watch out for flying Christmas Trees”…………

Remember that song….”Grandma got run over by a reindeer’…..pretty funny……

But this grandma almost got taken out by a flying Christmas tree the other day.

Coming home from my daughter’s house, the town truck was collecting the discarded curbside trees……..it was exceedingly windy…..

One flew off the truck, onto the main avenue in town……

A couple of minutes earlier…..maybe one less kiss good-bye to my grandson, and fate would have put me in the path of that flying evergreen…..

What a news story that would have been….

Grandma got hit with a flying Christmas tree…..

It’s a dangerous world out there…….

Be wary of cars, and trains, and planes……..and

Flying Christmas trees………

It wasn’t the tree’s fault…..it was a final attempt to escape the mulching machine or landfill pile…….

I always feel sorry for those discarded trees at the curb……the luster of tinsel gone, now part of yesterday’s garbage pile along with the torn wrapping paper and crumpled ribbons……

My tree is standing in my yard…..I will adorn it with treats for the birds and squirrels to enjoy a January and February Christmas of their own.

So be forewarned……you might think there’s no such thing as a flying Christmas tree…..but as for this grandma ……  “she believes”

And, always remember, each Christmas, every time a bell rings….

a flying Christmas tree gets its wings…….

All kidding aside, the flustered town worker made a quick U-Turn to retrieve the runaway Christmas tree…..as car after car swerved to avoid a tree collision.

(This blog was written with humor and also, much sadness, at yesterday’s loss of the 3500 year old, giant Cedar in Seminole County, Florida…..at the cruel hands of an arsonist)…….

Like a true, ancient warrior…..his spirit rose from the flames to Valhalla.
