Remembrances………..

Day three on my journey toward healing……

My family lost two members on the same day……one, with a lifetime of memories as his legacy, one, we didn’t get the chance to know….

Now, my husband joins my orphan status…..he said good bye to his dad yesterday.  He shared a lot of memories at the service.  His father was an anthropologist with the Museum of Natural History in New York City.  Growing up, my husband’s first job was taking care of all the exotic live animals the museum exhibited…….

When he left that job……he thought his menagerie days had ended……..

Then, he met me………..

They say loved ones are never gone as long as they are remembered…….even though we never got the chance to know one of them……we will remember always……

Day three is better than day one….which was horrendous……

Hopefully, day six will be better, and so on…….

It is in our natures to rebound…….there are moments of laughter, shadowed by remembrances of grief….but the shadows will fade as time passes……

So, last night, we laughed around the dinner table……as well as silently cried for what has gone from our lives…….

Remembering memories shared……and never losing thoughts of memories we never got to live……..and moving forward on our journeys in life.

Namaste,

Shirl
