Grandbeagles……..

Today, I wrote about my grandbeagle…….my furry grandchild who likes to come to grandma’s house for good things to eat…….

Zora has a beagle nose……..she can sniff out a goodie miles away………there are always goodies at grandma’s.

Zora was given away by her family……..she came with a bag full of toys, but not enough love for even a single follow up email to ask how she was adjusting.

No worries………Zora, a.ka. Zazie,  found a good home.  She attached her little velcro body to my daughter and hasn’t let go since…….

This little girl is loved…….she is a smoooshball……..she doesn’t sit next to you…….. she smooshes her beagle body into yours until your body can be smooshed no further.  Not the most pleasant of experiences, since Zora could be spokesbeagle for Listerine and Gas-X.  Especially when she smooshes under the covers at bedtime……….only a mommy and daddy could love her stinky, warm beagle body.

She is tiny, but very muscular……..and believe me, her smooshing can pack a wallop for sure.  Many times, I have been smashed to a pancake by affection.

She already has a brother……..a cat named Pudge…….now she is ready to become big sister to my first non furry grandchild.  Pudge, the cat,  has been dealing with his own issues and irritable bowl syndrome……I think he knows something’s up in the house……a little something that is going to take some getting used to………..but we will talk more of Pudge in another blog……he has his own story to tell.

There has been new baby training ……introducing a crying doll in the house so beagle ears will become adjusted and not join in howling harmony………… and learning some new, big sister beagle,  behavior skills.

Zora will have to work on the rules of  being a big sister………

Rule #1……….Only gentle baby smooshing…………

Rule #2………The good thing about velcro, is you can let go, and it will attach itself again………so Zazie, you don’t have to smoosh mommy constantly………there is a new baby that needs her attention now.

Rule #3……… Grandma’s will always be a peaceful place to get away from little siblings with their own stinky smells………….:-)

Namaste,

Shirl
